Travel Grant
The Minnesota Chapter of The Wildlife Society (MNTWS) is committed to the identification and removal of barriers to recruitment as well as effective mentoring, retention of a diverse workforce, and communicating with a diverse range of individuals and groups. With these commitments in mind, MNTWS began offering travel grants in 2023 to support annual conference attendees from historically marginalized groups or who otherwise face DEI-related barriers to annual meeting participation. We are pleased to announce that MNTWS will continue these efforts in 2026.
2026 Travel Grant
For 2026, we have $1,200 available to support travel grants for the joint meeting of the Minnesota chapters of the American Fisheries Society, Society of American Foresters, and Wildlife Society occurring on Feb. 24-26, 2026. Awards will provide at least $300 of support to help up to four individual attendees defray costs related to travel (mileage and hotel) and meals. Additionally, MNTWS will cover the 2026 meeting registration fee. Travel awards will be provided to recipients before the conference to help reduce out-of-pocket costs on the front end and lower financial barriers.
Eligibility (definition form 2025 awards): Individuals from groups previously underrepresented in wildlife professions based on racial, ethnic, sexual and/or gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, individuals with disabilities, and individuals who are neurodivergent are eligible to apply. Preference for funding will be given to applicants who have a role in the conference or are presenting a talk or poster, but this is not a requirement to be considered for the award.
